Does it really become hard enough to hold a displaced fracture?

Yes — and it is the only washable, breathable cast that can be applied immediately after a closed reduction and moulded to hold it.

  • Rigid once cured. The photo-cured polymer sets into a load-bearing shell whose rigidity does not change with heat or moisture — unlike thermoplastics, which soften, or plaster, which weakens when wet.
  • Moulded after the reduction, not before. The immobilizer is soft on the limb until you apply the light, so you reduce, confirm position, then cure — the shape is locked to the reduction you achieved.
  • Uniform stress distribution. The lattice geometry and foam liner spread load evenly and hold three-point moulding.
  • Held in the same indications as a cast. Distal radius, metacarpal, scaphoid, ankle and foot fractures, Monteggia and Galeazzi injuries — see the intended uses per variant.
  • Published outcomes. In a 2026 retrospective cohort of 108 patients, alignment at device removal was anatomic or near-anatomic in 103 of 104 fractures (99.1%). In a five-site Indian post-market study of 137 distal radius fractures, radiographic healing was seen in all participants. Read the papers →

How does the technology work, and how do I apply it?

A photo-curing resin sealed in silicone over a foam liner. Soft on the limb; rigid in three to five minutes under RizyCure's UV-free blue light.

How can I start using OrthoHeal products at my clinic?

Starter
